Parents
Get involved!
You, as parents, are extremely important to the educational process. Research shows that children are more successful when parents are actively involved in their child’s education.
Genoa Elementary has a parent volunteer program. If you would like to become a school volunteer, please contact the school. Your time and talents are greatly appreciated in this program.
Tribe of Excellence
Genoa Elementary operates “Tribe of Excellence” as our responsible student program. This program does not replace the discipline program but encourages students to become more responsible in a positive manner.
Tribe of ExcellencE is a positive reinforcement program that rewards students who meet the standards that have been set by the teachers as a group. These standards range from turning in homework to being prepared for class when it begins with pencil, paper, and books needed. Students are rewarded with arrowheads that may be exchanged in the Arrowhead Trading Post. Exchanges occur once every month. Items in the store range from books to educational toys. We encourage parents to shop with their child/children when the store is open and announcements will be made so that you might make arrangements to “shop” with your child.
Students will be given a student planner to serve as a means of a communication tool between the classroom teacher and home. In grades 3-5, this tool becomes the first step in teaching students very basic organizational skills that they will need in the upper grades. Parents are asked to check the planner nightly, together with their child and to sign the book once a week. Daily work and homework assignments will be listed in the planner. Use of the planner will be linked to the Tribe of Excellence Program, as it is appropriate in each grade level.
